Newborn baby found dead inside bag in Phoenix

MGN

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - Phoenix police found the body of a newborn inside a bag near a Phoenix hotel early Friday morning.

AzFamily reported officers were called at 25th Street and Peoria Avenue around 6:30 a.m. regarding a bag behind bushes that line the roadway. They confirmed the baby was dead, but still unclear how the newborn died.

Police will continue to investigate and check surveillance video to help determine who left the bag in the area.

Investigators tell AzFamily, "I can’t make any assumptions on what the parent of the child is going through or why this happened. Obviously, the location of where the infant has been located is concerning."

Police continue to investigate.
