Journalists seek information on cases in nursing homes

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A group of Phoenix-area media organizations is suing the state of Arizona for records detailing coronavirus outbreaks in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.

Attorneys representing the Arizona Republic, ABC15, 12 News, CBS 5, and 3TV filed the lawsuit Tuesday.

State officials have cited privacy laws in refusing to release information about facilities with cases or deaths.

Arizona's death toll from the virus climbed to 395 on Tuesday. Health officials now say the state's confirmed cases top 9,300.
