Jose Delgado loses in third round to Jean Silva

GLENDALE, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma native Jose Delgado took on Jean Silva in the main featherweight event at Desert Diamond Arena.

Weighing in at 145 pounds, Delgado stepped into his first UFC main event on short notice after replacing an injured Yair Rodriguez.

In the first round, Delgado showed strong confidence and striking volume. He surprised Silva and managed to hurt the Brazilian early in the fight.

Second round, Silva increased his pressure and began targeting delgado's body with punches and elbows, stealing the momentum back on the mat.

However, Silva bounced back and went all in for round 3.

Silva trapped Selgado against the fence, landed a heavy right hook that knocked him down, and quickly secured a one-armed rear-naked choke forcing Delgado to tap out.

Despite the loss, Delgado still has a bright future in his fighting career.

Delgado is now 12-3 overall in his fighting career. Silva is currently ranked number six in the featherweight division.
