International Space Station crew ventured out of the spacecraft to replace antenna

(NBC, KYMA) - The crew of the International Space Station Tuesday had to do some home improvement. Astronauts ventured outside the spacecraft to replace a space to ground antenna.

The spacewalk started this morning a little before 9 a.m. and was expected to last around six and a half hours.

One of the crew members taking part is astronaut Adenot Sophie.

She is the first French female astronaut to make a spacewalk outside the International Space Station.

According to NASA, the antenna being replaced is used for high speed communications between the space station and mission control in Houston.
