Singer, songwriter Carly Simon reveals she has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease

(NBC, KYMA) - Singer and songwriter Carly Simon has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

In a statement concerning her recent absence from public events, the iconic entertainer wrote in part, "The truth is, I've been learning how to live with Parkinson's Disease."

She went on to say, "Some days I'm so tired I can't get the day moving at all. On others, it gives me a little more room to move, think, work, and feel like myself."

The 83-year-old also revealed that she has also undergone treatment for Basal Cell Carcinoma on her face.

Simon ended her statement saying, "These days I move more slowly, but I am still very much here."

The Grammy-award winner, best known for songs such as "You're So Vain" and "Nobody Does It Better," was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

Simon is set to release her first original album in 18 years, called "Comes In Waves", on August 14.
