Father in custody after his young son is found dead

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (NBC, KYMA) - Three year old Joseph Martinez taken by his father without permission from Southbridge Street Sunday. The little boy found dead across town Monday morning.

Memphis Police Department says officers were called to the house in Parkway Village Sunday night after Joseph was taken.

They returned Monday morning after officers say the father, who has not been identified, came home without the three-year-old.

The father was placed in custody and a city watch was issued.

Around 10 a.m. M.P.D. canceled the city watch when investigators say they found the little boy dead in the 100 block of north front street, which is downtown.

Action news 5 saw police work for hours at another scene they say is part of the case. Back in Parkway Village Joseph's neighbors say their prayers are with his family.
