Texas pets relocated to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UT. (NBC, KYMA) - Among the hundreds of flights that came into the Salt Lake City Airport Friday, one of them was full of dogs and cats, looking for a second chance.

After a flight from Texas, 90 dogs and cats arrived in Salt Lake City.

They aren't victims of the flooding in Texas, but coming here to Utah makes room for those animals, who are.

"It's been amazing to see how many people have stepped up." said Amy Kohlbecker, Executive Director of Best Friends Salt Lake Adoption Center.

Some needed a vaccination or two, some just needed a place to rest after such a busy day.

"It's a lot of hard work, but it's also very rewarding.", Kohlbecker said.

For now these dogs and cats have food medical care and people who already care about them.
