Dog rescued after falling off a cliff in Kentucky

WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (KYMA) - A dog who fell off a cliff is now safe and sound thanks to the work of a rescue team.

It happened last week near the Red River Gorge, a popular hiking spot in eastern Kentucky.

The images were provided by Wolfe County Search and Rescue.

The dog, named Buddy, had fallen off a 65-foot cliff and was stranded on a narrow ledge.

On Saturday, four days after Buddy fell, his owner heard the faint sound of barking and called for help.

Wolfe County Search and Rescue arrived and, according to a statement, "conducted a high-angle rope rescue operation to safely reach the anxious pup."

Rescuers used a harness to lift Buddy to safety, and he soon received a massive hug from his very grateful owner.
