Winds take a break just in time for the weekend

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The weekend weather is shaping out to be spectacular.

Intense winds were scraping through the Desert Southwest to end the work week, causing poor air quality. Those extreme gusts have eased off and the air quality has vastly improved because of it.

As we are currently tracking, wind gusts shouldn't reach too far into the double digits until Sunday evening. Expect a light breeze in the 8-12mph range through Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures are on the rise from Friday, with the Imperial Valley capping out in the high 80s and most of Yuma County sitting right around 90°F. Those will take a step higher for Sunday, with both counties sitting comfortably in the 90s.

Clouds shouldn't hinder the sunshine today, but will appear in the night sky. There's some potential for them to stick around for tomorrow, but only enough for partly cloudy conditions.
