An Afghan man who spent years helping US forces in Afghanistan is shot and killed in Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) — A former Afghan interpreter for the U.S. military was killed in a shooting this past week in Washington has been laid to rest. Nasrat Ahmad Yar came to the United States looking for a better life for his four children. He died while working as a ride-share driver. Family and friends gathered Saturday for funeral services in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Close friend Rahim Amini describes Ahmad Yar as a generous person who sent money back to family and friends in Afghanistan. No suspects have been arrested in the case. Surveillance video captured the sound of a single gunshot and four boys or young men were seen running away.
