Locals looking forward to Mega Millions Jackpot

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Mega Millions has reached more than $1 billion just in time for tonight's big drawing!

I talked to local residents to find out what they would do if they hit the jackpot.

Yumans don't want to miss the opportunity to become the next billionaire.

Tonight's jackpot sits at more than $1.3 billion.

It's the second largest in Mega Millions history.

Locals are excited and looking forward to be the lucky one.

"First I'd shout and jump around and dance," says Pete, a Yuma resident.

"Because if you are not in, you can't win. You got to give it a try and hope for the best," says Richard Craig, another Yuma resident.

Despite the superstition of Friday the 13th, 6 Mega Millions Jackpots have been won on a Friday the 13th.

The winner has the cash option of taking home more than $700.

Some Yumans already know what to do with that amount of cash.

"The money would be pretty simply taken care of, invest a lot of it. Take a little bit, splurge, take care of some friends and family, and enjoy life," says Craig.

"I'd share it with my family, grandkids, son, and daughter. And then I think there's a lot of needy organizations and people and with that kind of money I can do some good," says Pete.

Just in case, I bought my tickets even though the chance to win is 1 in 300 million.
