YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Kofa boys soccer defeated Gila Ridge at home 1-0 on Thursday night.

The Kings were looking to get back to their winning ways after a 1-0 loss at Cibola on Tuesday night.

Kofa and Gila Ridge remained scoreless at the end of the first half, but chances began to open up when both teams retook the field.

One free kick from Kofa sophomore Nolan Garcia just missed the top crossbar by about a foot.

Then, just a short while later, Garcia would be called upon again, after a Gila Ridge tackle in the box led to a penalty.

Garcia went on to bury the shot in the bottom right corner of the net.

The goal would prove to be the game winner, as Kofa got to a record of 6-1 on the season.

Gila Ridge meanwhile drops to 3-2 on the season, suffering their second consecutive loss.

They'll next be in action when they compete in the Bohdie Larson Celebration Classic, beginning on Wednesday Dec 28.

Kofa is now set for an extended break from competition.

However, their next game will be a big one, as the Kings will take on the 5-0 San Luis Sidewinders on Friday Jan 6, at 6:00 p.m.
