Black Friday shopping at the border

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Hundreds of Mexicali residents took advantage of the Black Friday specials in Calexico.

There were long lines at some stores.

Local businesses hope their sales increase and reactivate the economy that put them in jeopardy in the previous years due to the pandemic.

"Ss I told you we’re going to compare it to 2019, because on 2020 and 2021 there were restrictions to cross the border, so, now everyone is going to come. they are the majority of our customers 70 or 80% our customers are from the other side of the border," says Sara, Levi's Store Manager.

Most of the border residents bought clothing an electronics.

As for local businesses, today marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping.
