Tracking slightly cooler temperatures and possible tropical moisture for the weekend
Tracking pleasant temperatures with slightly cooler conditions expected to come this weekend. However, tropical moisture may bring in higher rain and storm chances for Labor Day weekend. Stay tuned for more details.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Today has been another fantastic day with near average temperatures and dry conditions.
For our hours ahead, it will be pleasant and comfortable as temperatures will continue to cool down nicely and dew points will continue to stay in the 40s and low 50s. Nice evening ahead to be outside and take your dogs for a walk.
However, for those in Imperial County it will be breezy through tonight as I am tracking westerly winds and gusts between 20-25 MPH.
Tracking stronger and gustier winds being possible for Friday for Imperial County as well.
Tracking a continuing lower-pressure system staying put keeping our temperatures seasonable or a few degrees cooler than normal.
Tropical moisture to the south may be picked up come this weekend to bring in rain and storm opportunities to the Desert Southwest.

The hurricane I am tracking closely is Hurricane Marie, which is expected to upgraded into a CAT 2 Hurricane by Friday. Marie's path is still traveling north/northwest. Marie isn't expected to reach land, but may bring some tropical moisture to the United States for Labor Day weekend.
There are still lots of uncertainties, but it is something I will be tracking as it could bring higher chances of storms in the days ahead.
Tracking cooler temperatures for the weekend as highs will drop into the double-digit by Saturday.
For the holiday weekend, I am tracking tropical moisture that may bring in even higher storm and rain chances for the weekend and into Labor Day. The best chance favoring for shower activity is looking on Saturday.

There haven't been any big drought updates in the last few weeks. Yuma cuexperiencingrrently staying 100% dry and moderate drought. Imperial Valley is also trending in the dry category, and a chunk of the county is expereinign moderate drought conditions.
