VIDEO: Starbucks employees strike at more than 100 stores

(NBC) - Today, Starbucks workers at more than 100 U.S. stores say they're going on strike. WREX spoke with employees at a Starbucks in Rockford who say that they are demanding the company to make changes.

At this Starbucks in Rockford, Illinois, employees that are walking out say are wanting the company to make changes.

Those changes include improving staffing and scheduling for workers.

The employees are part of what's called the Starbucks workers united union.

They represent more than 7,000 Starbucks workers across the country.

Workers say that they just want to voice their concerns with the company - and most importantly - be heard.

"I mean it is extremely hurtful. I have worked for Starbucks for almost 10 years it will be 10 years next May. I have dedicated a lot of blood sweat and tears to making our store successful and it's extremely hurtful and insulting that they are unwilling to hear what we have to say," says a Starbucks employee.

The walkouts are scheduled to coincide with Starbucks' annual red cup day - where the company gives free reusable cups to customers who order holiday drinks.

Workers say it's often one of the busiest days of the year.
