Yuma elementary student wins essay writing contest

Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee announces the AZ529 essay writing contest winner

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Fabian Lucero is a fifth grader from Salida Del Sol Elementary School who won the AZ529 "Dream. Write. Win" Essay Writing Contest.

About 20 fifth graders from 15 Arizona counties were invited by the Arizona State Treasurer's Office and the AZ529 Advisory Committee.

These fifth graders were invited to share their dream jobs and how they plan to achieve them by writing a three-paragraph essay said a press release.

Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee presented the $529 check to the Yuma County winner, Fabian Lucero on October 27, 2022.

The $529 check will go towards an AZ529 Education Savings Plan.

Fabian Lucero from Yuma County won the contest and wrote about being a professional soccer player.
