More than 200 pounds of meth found in tractor trailer

SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a driver who attempted to smuggle about 233.9 pounds of methamphetamine at an immigration checkpoint.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, around 2:05 a.m. on Friday, September 30, a white 2015 Freightliner approached the Highway 86 checkpoint, the agents had the vehicle move to secondary inspection.

The Border Patrol K-9 detection team were alerted to the back of the trailer and agents inspected the cargo inside.

Agents found three large black duffle bags between cardboard bundles, the bags had 110 separate vacuum sealed packages of methamphetamine.

The 50-year-old driver had attempted to smuggle about 233.9 pounds of methamphetamine that is worth $514,580 and was arrested.
