Amberly’s Place kicks off domestic violence awareness with local law enforcement
YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - October is almost here and with it comes Domestic Violence Awareness month.
Amberly’s Place kicked off domestic violence awareness with local law enforcement Wednesday.
They hosted the annual distribution of purple ribbon magnets for law enforcement patrol vehicles.
Agencies from Yuma, San Luis, Somerton and even California came out to get magnets for their vehicles.
Tori Bourguignon, Executive Director of Amberly’s Place said awareness couldn't have come at a better time as Yuma has seen a rise in domestic violence.
“We are up 39% in domestic violence calls in our community over this same period last year. This is an issue that doesn’t discriminate by socioeconomic or race or color, sex, creed, this affects our entire community and every neighborhood in Yuma, Imperial County and across the United States for that matter,” said Bourguignon.
Amberly's Place encourages people to report any signs of domestic violence to law enforcement immediately.
