Lawyer for the Hospital District Board 1 says trial is set for April 2023

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On Wednesday night the Hospital District Board met publicly for the first time since June.

The District Board is a group of five elected individuals which oversee the lease of the land Yuma Regional Medical Center is built on.

YRMC and the District Board have been engaged in a lawsuit over the terms of the lease since 2020.

The lawyer for the district board said the litigation has been moving forward and the two sides are currently in a deposition.

“Things have ramped up, as we move out of discovery. Both parties have acknowledged that," Paul Gerding said. "Now that we have a trial date set we’re going to keep moving and get everything done.”

Gerding says the trial is currently set for April of 2023.

The District Board meets at the Aldrich Auditorium every second Wednesday of the month.
