Man sentenced to 46 months in prison for bringing deadly drugs into the U.S.

Jesus Alfonso Duarte from Pima, Arizona smuggled fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin in his vehicle to the U.S.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A 22-year-old man was sentenced to 46 months in prison along with five years of supervised release and has also previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin.

Jesus Alfonso Duarte came through the DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona on March 29, 2020 with more than 25 pounds of methamphetamine, five pounds of heroin and two pounds of fentanyl hidden inside his vehicle.

The 22-year-old man also admitted that he worked for a known drug trafficker in Mexico and lent his vehicle to the trafficker before reentering the U.S..
