Hundreds of Yumans become United States citizens

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Over 200 people became United States citizens Wednesday in Yuma.

The Naturalization ceremony took place at the Yuma Civic Center and was the final stage of the process to become a U.S. citizen for these individuals.

During the ceremony, the new citizens took the Oath of Allegiance, and received their Certificate of Naturalization.

Once you receive this certificate, you can apply for a U.S. passport and vote in national, state, and local elections.

We spoke with two new U.S. citizens who say they waited over a decade for this moment and are proud to call Yuma their home in the United States.
