COVID-19 cases on the rise across Imperial County

KYMA

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Public Health Department says (ICPHD) COVID-19 cases across Imperial County are still going up.

With schools set to start in less than a month, medical health experts highly encourage the usage of masks.

The department says the Omicron B.A 5 strain continues to be the most dominant strain across the U.S and the most contagious.

Health experts say if things get worse, they may have to implement COVID prevention measures down the line once again.

"Currently there are some facilities and settings that require masking already, shelters, cooling centers, health care settings, correctional facilities, as well as senior care settings," Rosyo Ramirez with the Imperial County Public Health Department said.
