Over 200 pounds of fentanyl found in vehicle near Golden Acorn Casino

US Customs and Border Protection / MGN

SAN DIEGO (KYMA, KECY) - US Customs and Border Protection says about 250 pounds of fentanyl was found near Campo, California.

At about 3:00 a.m. on July 18, Border Patrol agents stopped a black GMC truck on Interstate 8 near Golden Acorn Casino.

A K-9 detection team pointed agents to the vehicle where multiple bundles were discovered in a spare tire and gas tank.

“Our agents prevented these dangerous narcotics from reaching our communities,” expressed Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke.  “I am proud to say that our Border Patrol agents here in San Diego Sector are responsible for over 50% of all the fentanyl seized by the U.S. Border Patrol this fiscal year.”
