COVID-19 cases expected to rise after Independence Day celebrations in Imperial County

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD) says cases of COVID-19 were already on the rise and are expected to rise even more after the 4th of July celebrations.

Rosyo Ramirez is the deputy director with ICPHD and says there are about 740 active cases, but also notes this does not include 4th of July numbers.

"We saw some more cases and hospitalizations after the weekend, but we will see more after this week," she said.
