Gadsden school board seat open after Guillermina Fuentes pleads guilty to ballot harvesting

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Gadsden Elementary School District is now looking for a new board member since former San Luis Mayor Guillermina Fuentes had to give up her seat after pleading guilty to ballot harvesting.

Under the plea agreement, Fuentes agreed to lose her voting rights and not hold an elected office.

San Luis resident Gary Snyder has already announced he's running for the seat.

To apply for the seat applicants must submit letters of interest to the superintendent’s office by Tuesday, June 21.

Interviews are taking place on June 27.

As for Fuentes, she's facing up to three years probation or up to two years in prison and will appear back in court for sentencing June 30.
