UPDATE: One dead on Highway 86 after car catches fire in crash

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - California Highway Patrol released more detailed information regarding a car crash on Highway 86 which led to one death.

At about 3:24 p.m. on June 1, a man in a 2015 Dodge was driving on Highway 86 south of Carey Road.

CHP says the man in the Dodge was driving at an unknown speed and crashed into the back of a Caterpillar Tractor.

The Dodge then caught fire and the driver was then pronounced dead on scene.

CHP is still investigating the case, including if impairment was a factor.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated once we receive more information.
