Yuma McDonald’s franchise owner denied workers’ wages

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The U.S. Department of Labor held an investigation on several Yuma-based McDonald's location, saying the fast-food chain owed hundreds of workers thousands in back wages and liquidated damages.

The Department says 332 workers were owed more than $128,000 due to a violation of the Fair Labor Standard Act's overtime requirements.

According to the Department's Wage and Hour Division, the franchise owner didn't pay employees for overtime.

“The investigation shows the costly consequences faced by an employer whose pay practices failed to comply with federal overtime and minimum wage requirements,” explained Wage and Hour Division District Director Eric Murray in Phoenix. “Employers should review their pay practices and contact the Wage and Hour Division with any questions or concerns to avoid similar circumstances.”
