United Service Organizations military baby shower

YUMA. Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - United Service Organizations a held large-scale baby shower Saturday honoring expecting military moms.

The baby shower was held at the Yuma Civic Center with over 60 expecting military moms or spouses being honored by the USO.

Since 1941, the USO has been the nation’s leading organization to serve the men and women in the U.S. Military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform.

Lunch was provided to all attendees, along with baby gifts, games and raffle prizes.

USO operations and programs manager, Stephanie Stech, says she is honored to be able to put on this special event for new moms.

“The military moms that we have here, a lot of them are not originally from here, a lot of them are from lots of different places, they’re only here for a couple of years. A couple of the ladies I sat down with at a table today, said this is the only baby shower they’re gonna get, so we love doing it for them, so they have an opportunity to get gifts and be celebrated. They also have the opportunity to connect with other moms in similar circumstances so it’s one of my favorite events,” said Stech.

Military support organizations like, MCCS Child Development, MCCS New Parent Support PrograM and Navy-Marine Corps relief society, joined the event to share with everyone services they provide, that may help the new mothers as they welcome their baby.
