News 11 and Walmart host annual holiday drive for Crossroads Mission

UPDATE: 10:10 PM

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Crossroads Mission group is extremely grateful to the Yuma community for supporting this year's Share Your Holiday Turkey Drive.

As of Friday evening, over 900 turkeys have been collected. This comes just shy of their 1,000 goal.

However, Crossroads Missions still has uncounted donations.

The staff is confident the community's donations will help reach that goal of 1,000 turkeys donated before Thanksgiving Day.


UPDATE: 8:30 PM

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Pacific Avenue Walmart team took this opportunity to donate to the cause too. Workers donated turkeys, cookware, deserts and more to the Share Your Holiday Turkey Drive.

Crossroads Mission staff confirms 488 turkeys have been collected at this location. In total, over 800 hundred turkeys have been collected across Yuma County.


UPDATE: 5:13 PM

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department turned up for News 11's Annual Turkey Drive in a big way!

A parade of squad cars arrived at the Walmart on Pacific Avenue to show their support for Crossroads Mission. Officers parked their cruisers, then went inside to gather turkeys and other essentials for a Thanksgiving feast.

Crossroads Mission feeds turkey and all the trimmings to hundreds every year, and News 11 and YPD are proud supporters of its efforts.


UPDATE: 4:43 PM

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - More than 650 turkeys collected so far all across Yuma County in News 11's annual Turkey Drive benefitting Crossroads Mission.

You only have until 10 p.m. to drop off your donation at any Yuma-area Walmart store. Come on down and say hello!


UPDATE: 2:41 PM

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - We've collected 402 turkeys as of 2:30pm, but we need more for News 11's Annual Turkey Drive benefitting Crossroads Mission.

If you haven't done so already, grab bird, or some holiday fixings, and drop them off at any Yuma-area Walmart store.

Laura Meza from Telemundo 3 will be waiting to greet you at the San Luis location, and look for Jenny Day, Adonis Albright, Rob Fram, and Cody Lee at the Pacific Avenue store.

We'll be out there until 10 tonight, so stop by say hi, and help us make this a happy Thanksgiving for Yuma's less fortunate.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The annual Turkey Drive event has been begun and the community is coming together to donate food, cleaning supplies, clothes and of course, turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday.

KYMA is helping the Turkey Drive organizers, Crossroads Mission, by giving our support to people in need.
