YCSO searches for suspects in golf course vandalism

$50,000 in damage caused at Las Barrancas Golf Course

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) is looking for the suspect, or suspects, who tore up one of the greens at Las Barrancas Golf Course.

You can see clearly the damage to the greens at the Las Barrancas Golf Course on E. County 14th Street

Deputies got called to E. County 14th Street just before 5:15 Monday morning. Someone had trespassed onto the property, and drove onto the course, damaging the 5th hole practice green. It'll cost the property more than $50,000 to replace the grass.

Deputies remind the public, it's considered a class 4 felony to recklessly damage property. A conviction carries a sentence of between one-and-a-half and three-years.

YCSO asks anyone with any information on this crime to call 928-783-4427. You can also remain anonymous by submitting a tip to 78-CRIME, or by logging on to the YCSO website.
