Number of active cases in Imperial County drops by 200+

More than 15,000 Valley residents now tested for coronavirus

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Finally, some good news from the Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD.) On Friday it reported a 226 case drop in its number of active coronavirus cases.

More good news - testing also saw a big spike. More than 15,000 Valley residents have now been tested for the illness. In addition, health officials consider nearly 300 patients recovered.

The number of confirmed cases did climb by 75 on Friday. ICPHD also confirmed three more deaths.

California now has more than 123,000 cases of coronavirus. The illness is blamed for more than 4,400 deaths, including 30 in Imperial County.
