YUHSD confirms man accused of luring minor is a teacher
School district also confirms alleged victim is a student
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD) confirms, a man arrested on charges of luring a minor for sex is a teacher, and the alleged victims is a current student.
The Yuma Police Department (YPD) says officers began investigating 34-year-old David Hannah on March 27. They arrested Hannah Thursday.
YUHSD tells News 11 Hannah taught English at Gila Ridge High School beginning in 2009. Most recently he taught at Yuma High School. Hannah's last day on the campus was March 13, just before the all local schools closed due to coronavirus. Hannah is still employed by the school district. The school board will decide his fate during its next meeting.
Investigators and YUHSD have released no information on the alleged victim except to say she is a current student.
Hannah now faces two felony counts including aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation.
Yuma police continue to investigate this case. They ask anyone with more information to call 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
