Schools throughout Yuma give students unique send offs
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT) - Yuma's Crane District wanted to give its students a proper send off, so some of the schools decided to add a little kick to their events.
H.L. Suverkrup Elementary School picked a tropical theme adding island-themed decorations and playing tropical music.
Rancho Viejo Elementary and staff decided to wait until it got dark to have a cosmic drive through.
For many students the event was a reminder they were missed. It also told them teachers and staff can't wait to see them when they come back from summer break.
For others, this event marked the end of a chapter in their lives which some staff find emotional.
"It's been really hard being away from them the whole fourth quarter. We never stopped thinking about them and we are going out with a bang. we missed them being here everyday, we want to celebrate them today moving on to seventh grade"
Centennial Middle School opted to do both a virtual graduation and a drive through.
