Rolle Elementary graduating fifth graders in drive-through ceremony

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Congratulations to the Class of 2020!

James B. Rolle Elementary held their 5th-grade drive-thru promotion Wednesday, allowing one last goodbye to the graduating class.

Rolle families decorated their cars in celebration of the graduates.

87 students from Rolle were promoted to middle school.

Due to the coronavirus, schools across the country had to cancel graduation ceremonies.

Carla Quesenberry, Rolle's Librarian has been at the school for 11 years and says it's always bittersweet to see the children go.

But since the school ended earlier, she felt she wasn't able to give a proper goodbye to the students. But she also says she knows they are ready and prepared for what's to come.

James Keil, a Rolle graduate says when school ended he missed his friends the most and being able to learn every day. He is excited about what the next school year will bring.
