Mother prepares for brain surgery while pregnant amid the pandemic

YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY)- Friends and family of Martika have created a GoFundMe page on social media to raise funds for an unexpected brain surgery Martika will undergo in a couple of weeks.

Doctors told Martika she was diagnosed with AVM, a medical condition in her brain last week. Her urgent scheduled surgery is for this upcoming Monday in Phoenix. “It’s basically tangled blood vessels in my brain and they’re causing a brain bleed," said Bernal.

Martika is six months pregnant and says she feels a little worried about the pandemic. However, she feels optimistic she will bounce back from the surgery in no time.

In the GoFundMe page her friend, Wendy Verdugo wrote, "Anything helps and it will be tremendously appreciated❤️I know God is in control and will take care of them.I thank you all from the bottom of my heart."
