Planned Parenthood still offering services amid pandemic

EL CENTRO,Calif. (KYMA,KECY) -

Planned Parenthood  is a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive health care in the United States and globally.

When the stay at home orders began they were only responding to emergency situations such as UTI’s and birth control. Now they are offering the same services however social distancing and masks are now a requirement.

“We do ask that everyone wears a mask and umm and one of the things that we’re not able to do as before is a patient would be able to come in with their significant other or friend,    family members and we are no longer able to allow that,” said Vivian Perez, Clinic Center Manager.

Perez also says they take everyone’s temperature upon arrival.

“And upon arrival we do screen them we take your temperature and ask them questions to see whether or not they may be asymptomatic.”

Perez also says that the biggest challenge they’ve had adjusting to the new norm is people were not wearing masks.

“I would say the wearing of the mask umm but we initially individuals would come umm they were not wearing masks but now our signs are up and fortunately the county and the state have been doing really good messaging on the importance of masks”

Planned Parenthood is also offering telehealth services for those who may need it.

“They make an appointment just like they normally would their able to and, they’re actually registered by one of our patient access specialist and our clinician speaks with them through a camera, computer.”

Planned Parenthood also says that they are still working to make sure individuals who do not have health insurance and are unable to pay still have access to their services.
