NILAND, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-A woman is arrested at the Highway 111 immigration checkpoint after agents discovered methamphetamine in her vehicle early Thursday morning.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection say the 28-year-old woman approached the checkpoint at 1:30 in the morning but was sent to secondary inspection after a canine alerted to her vehicle, a 2019 Jeep Compass.

While in secondary inspection, agents searched near the rear cargo area where they found a backpack with two re-sealable bags and a plastic container with meth.

CBP says the total weight of the meth was approximately 8.4 pounds with an estimated value of $15,960.

The woman, a United States citizen, the drugs, and the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
