IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT)-Imperial County is now in stage 2, labeled as "low risk."

The county unveiled its roadmap to recovery Friday morning at a press conference.

The roadmap was put together with input from the Imperial County Health Department, the County Board of Supervisors, and Council Members from all seven cities in Imperial County.

Although many businesses in the valley are hoping to reopen sooner than later, the county is following guidelines from the state.

Stage two allows lower-risk workplaces like retail stores to reopen, but only for curbside pick up or delivery.

According to the county's roadmap, it may be a while until malls, restaurants, and salons get to open their doors to the public.

Businesses of this nature have been placed in the county's second phase of stage two that is label as higher risk.

Before entering the higher risk stage, the county health department has to ensure the county is prepared to handle a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Tune in to 13 On Your Side at 4 p.m. as Alexandra Rangel speaks to the Imperial County Health Department about how COVID-19 numbers should look like in order to move further into stage two.
