SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-Border Patrol agents arrest a woman at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint after discovering packages of methamphetamine in her vehicle's gas tank.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) say a 30-year-old woman driving a 2003 Ford Expedition approached the checkpoint Wednesday afternoon. A canine alerted to the vehicle and was sent to secondary inspection for further investigation.

While in secondary inspection, agents found 75 packages of meth hidden inside the gas tank.

CBP says the total weight of the drugs is approximately 59.13 pounds with an estimated value of $112,347.

The woman, a United States citizen, the drugs, and the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
