COVID-19 cases and deaths in Mexicali keep on rising

MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY)-COVID-19 cases and deaths increase overnight in Mexicali.

According to the Ministry of Health in Baja California, 88 cases spiked up along with to eight deaths.

Just this Wednesday 69 deaths were reported and increased by eight deaths. Health officials confirm there are a total of 815 cases in Baja California.

The Secretary of Health in the State, Alonso Perez Rico, reported that 50% of the hospitals are reserved for COVID-19 patients. The delegate of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, Desirée Sagarnaga reported that the IMSS clinic 30 will expand its capacity this weekend with 20 more beds for patients in recovery from COVID-19.

The hospital space for recovering patients will be enabled in the adjoining building that is located in the Clinic 30 hospital. On the other hand, health officials received 50 ventilators that will be distributed in all the COVID-19 hospitals in the State.

Public hospitals in Mexicali will also receive 30 additional fans to help patients.

Health authorities reiterate that the next two weeks is the peak of infections in Baja California and it will depend on the mobility of people that the contagion curve flattens.

Health officials warn the community to stay home.
