MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY)-Three police officers have tested positive for the coronavirus in Mexicali.

Due to the infections, Mexican police temporarily closed down two surveillance booths in different parts of the city.

One in Islas Agrarias and the other one in Colonia Independencia.

The Deputy Director of the Mexicali Police, Juan Carlos Buenrostro says the first case was detected 15 days ago in Islas agrarias. As a precaution, officers who worked at the booth had to be placed on quarantine.

However, Buenrostro took the same protocols on Tuesday and temporarily closed the surveillance booth in Colonia Independencia.

Buenrostro continues to monitor a third booth located in Colonia Primero de Diciembre. He says an officer who works at that booth tested positive for the coronavirus.

In Mexicali there are 564 confirmed cases with 48 deaths.
