YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)-A Cibola High School senior is selected for the Arizona State University (ASU) Leadership Scholarship for this upcoming fall.

The Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD) says McKenna Jerpseth was selected for the scholarship.

The Leadership Scholarship Program (LSP) awards a $10,000 annual scholarship for resident students, renewable for three additional years (for a total of eight consecutive semesters).

23 high school seniors from Arizona and up to two out-of-state high school seniors are selected for the scholarship each year.

“McKenna was a perfect match for the ASU Leadership Scholarship,” CHS counselor Teresa Davis said. “She has given so much time and energy to two big leadership roles as Cibola High School Student Body President, and Miss Yuma County Outstanding Teen 2019. As impressive as McKenna’s intellectual traits are, I feel her real strength lies in her personal characteristics. She is a die-hard optimist who gives unselfishly of herself. McKenna’s involvement in school and the community is truly impressive.”
