WASHINGTON DC (KYMA, KECY) - The daughter of the alleged Mexican drug cartel boss, El Mencho, was arrested when she tried to see her brother in court, Wednesday.

Jessica Oseguera Gonzalez who is known as "La Negra" was arrested at the courthouse where her brother is facing drug charges, reported NBC News.

Jessica's brother, Ruben Oseguera-Gonzalez, who is known as "El Menchito", had appeared in court for a detention hearing after he was extradited to the U.S. last week. Ruben was arrested in Mexico in 2015 and had been fighting his extradition since. He is described as former second in command of the fast growing and violent Jalisco New Generation Cartel, reported NBC News.

According to NBC News, Jessica was arrested on a warrant from an indictment from February, and is being charged with engaging in dealings with five businesses blacklisted by the Treasury Department.

An indictment that was unsealed on Thursday showed the businesses allegedly provided financial support to Jalisco New Generation Cartel. The indictment also accuses Jessica of continuing her involvement with the businesses, two of which are a sushi restaurant and tequila company.

Jessica is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Mexico, and NBC News reported that she pleaded not guilty on Wednesday. Her lawyer claims the charges to be false, and is certain a jury will exonerate her.

The cartel is run by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, who is one of Mexico's most wanted fugitives, with a $10 million reward for information leading to his arrest. He is widely known as El Mencho and is charged with drug trafficking offenses in both Washington and Mississippi.
