CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)- Calexico police say officers arrested a man Tuesday for threatening to kill the mother of his child.

The Calexico Police Department (CPD) says it received an early morning call regarding a family dispute at a home on Rancho Elegante Street. The dispatcher told police she could only hear screams in the background.

When CPD arrived, officers say they found the suspect, Alfredo Sagun Munoz, choking his son's mother.

Officers say Munoz got into an argument with the boy's mother when he dropped him off at her sister's house. The victim claims he arrived armed with a knife and threatened to stab her to death. She also says he tried to drag her into his car.

The victim's sisters says that's when they tried to jump in and help. One did get hurt in the process. She suffered a cut to her palm. She says Munoz threatened to kill her too.

Munoz now faces charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment, and parole violation. He's being held on $1,000,000 in the Imperial County Jail.
