Atari to break ground on Phoenix hotel this year

Property is first of eight game-themed hotels

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The company best known for ushering in the video game revolution is getting into the hospitality business.

Atari has announced it will break ground on it's first hotel later this year in Phoenix. The company has plans for eight other video game-themed properties.

Atari says it plans to provide guests with a truly unique lodging experience.

In addition to Phoenix, hotels are planned for Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Jose.

Atari was founded back in 1972. It rose to fame with games like Asteroids, Centipede and Missile Command.
