Little dog finds himself in big trouble

COCHELLA, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - It was a "ruff" rescue for animal service officers in Riverside County.

They were recently called out to help free an Australian cattle dog pup who managed to get its head stuck in a spare tire.

At first, officers thought it would be as simple as adding a little lubricant to help the scared animal slide out, but the puppy didn't budge.

Officers then called in a veterinarian and some firefighters. The vet gave the dog a sedative. The firefighters used a special tool to cut the pup free from his round rubber prison.

The dog was up and eating as soon as the sedative wore off, so animal service officers think he'll be okay.
