Local principal wins $25,000

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - You couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

Southwest Junior High School's principal, Omar Duron won $25,000, courtesy of The Milken Educator Awards.

"To me, it's really just celebrating the efforts we have as a district and as a community," said Duron.

This award gifts exceptional educators across the country money they can use in whatever way they chose.

Duron said the top priority is having more technology at his junior high.

The Milken Educator Awards has given $70 million in awards since it began in 1987.
