Yuma School District One receives $2.54-million grant

Money will be used to maintain security at middle schools

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Department of Education has awarded Yuma School District One with a $2.54-million dollars grant to be used over the next three and a half years.

The money will ensure the continued presence of School Resource Officers (SRO's) on middle school campuses.

“School counselors and School Resource Officers provide vital services in support of students, families and teachers,” said District One Superintendent James Sheldahl.

The grant will also pay for the addition of full-time counselors at McGraw, O.C. Johnson, and Palmcroft Elementary Schools.

The grant process is extremely competitive. District One is proud to announce this award.
