EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)

A job fair in El Centro drew hundreds of locals in hopes of getting hired at a new processing facility that will be opening up very soon.

"They asked me four things and they said okay you might receive a call you might not. I want to stay optimistic about it," said Robert Mayden, applicant.

Mayden applied to be an officer at the processing center The starting hourly salary $29.73.

According to GEO Group’s online website it’s one of many positions they’re looking to fill.

Registered nurses, food service officers, case managers, and even a barber, all positions are needed at the processing center that GEO Group will be running.

The center will help process undocumented immigrants, details on the center weren’t disclosed, but one thing is certain, many workers are needed.

"There's not many jobs here so it's nice to see a big group like GEO Group come in and offer jobs. They said they were looking to hire 150 officers," said Mayden.

For those who weren't able to make it today and are interested in applying, the job fair will continue Wednesday starting at 9:00 am.
