MEXICO CITY (AP) — Four men were shot to death in the northern Mexico border state of Sonora, two of whom were suspects in the December stabbing deaths of three women.

The two had outstanding warrants for kidnapping and criminal conspiracy.

State prosecutors said two vehicles carrying gunmen pulled up to the four men in the parking garage of a shopping mall and opened fire on Thursday.

The dead men included one migrant from Honduras.

The prosecutor’s office did not say whether the killings were related to the deaths of the women, whose bodies were found on a roadside on Dec. 29.

However, the women’s bodies lacked identification and one was shoeless, suggesting they may have been kidnapped and held somewhere.
